Ella Tells More Lies

The police snorted, dimmed his eyes and tapped on the table in contemplation. He cast a stare upon Ella who at the time was sniffing and sighing in reaction to the pang of guilt that hit her in the head.

“First I would have to know if those sneakers belong to your husband,” the police asked Ella as he and Coleman shot their stare into her face, waiting for answers.

Ella gritted and sniffed, putting herself under caution to be mindful of her words and ensure she wouldn’t be implicated by her reply. If she needed to be cautious in her life it was now because any mistake she made would implicate her and Brian.

“Um…” she said, swallowing hard, bowing her head, and stealing a glance at Coleman and the police who were interestingly staring at her to know what reply she would give; as though her reply would bring her husband back to life.
