Chapter 71
Tears streamed down her face as she backed out of her parents' driveway and drove away. She gripped the steering so hard that her knuckles turned white.
She could barely see the road through her tears, but thankfully, she made it to her apartment building in one piece.
She rode the elevator to her apartment and said nothing to her neighbor, who was also with her in the elevator.
"Debbie," she muttered to herself when she got into her living room. "You have to get a grip on yourself."
Her phone rang in her bag that moment. She picked it up and saw that it was her mother.
"Mom," she exhaled.
"Darling, are you home already? She asked with concern in her voice. "Abel is bringing me over to your house."
"No no," she protested. "Don't worry, mom, I will be okay. You don't have to come over."
"Are you sure?"
