“And if I’d refused, would you have listened or followed us?”
She huffed, her gaze sliding away from his. He wasn’t wrong. She wasn’t reckless, nor did she have any great desire for people to find out who she was, or face the worst of their kind when she couldn’t do more than parlor tricks with her power, but would she have been able to stay behind knowing they were going into danger on her behalf?
No.
He leaned forward, catching the ends of her hair to draw her attention back to him, his expression softening slightly as he held her stare.
“But you’re also right. I should’ve kept you informed.”
Livia had to physically stop her jaw from dropping.
His lips twisted wryly. “Trust and sharing information are not things that come easily to me.”
