Chapter 38. Anger

My concern about Sarah’s suppressed wolf spirit becomes permanent, and I spend the whole journey on my laptop searching for the right therapy. We arrive home in the middle of the night, and when I call Sarah, she answers with a sleepy voice.
“Did I wake you?” I ask with a pang of guilt.
I’ve been texting her all day, and even though she responded each time, those one- or two-word messages were not reassuring. I need to hear her voice and know I didn’t ruin everything.
“Everything ok?” she replies with slow words, a bit of worry attached to her sleepiness.
“Yeah, sorry, I just arrived home.” I sit comfortably on my back patio with Bonbon’s head on my leg. Champ didn’t even bat an eye at me when I walked out to check on them.
“Shhh,” I pet her excited head to calm her, but her whine-bark still gets through to Sarah.
