Sighing to herself, Fanny reached out to open the door, when he suddenly stopped her, grabbing her arm so she wouldn’t open the door.

When she let go of him, more out of shock than from anything else, then he lifted his free hand, thumb tracing her lower lip, his breathing heavy.

She was about to ask him what he was doing here when he spoke first.

“Why do you wear lipstick... and this dress... you put on makeup. You never wear makeup, do you?”

Fanny’s heart pounded.

Talking to her in that deep voice while he keeps touching her like that, what should she do?

Immediately, she remembered what she had promised herself.

Fanny had intended to avoid him, and so far, she has successfully done so.
