Chapter 76. Step Inside
When her eyes fluttered open, she found herself cocooned in the soft comforter. The room was chilly due to the air conditioner. Her eyes flickered to the glass wall, the color of the sky clearly telling her that it was evening.
She immediately sat up, her senses sharpening as she absorbed her surroundings. Slowly, the memories began to settle back in her mind as she recalled everything. Her gaze darted cautiously around the room, searching for him. A sigh of relief left her lips when she confirmed he wasn’t there.
Still, a faint unease lingered, like a shadow she couldn’t shake. Nevertheless, she got off the bed, her feet sinking into the plush carpet. She poured herself a glass of water to relieve her parched throat.
Half an hour passed, yet there was no sign of him coming back. How long has it been since he left? she wondered. The stillness made it impossible to tell.
