Chapter 56. The Beast

Irtaza went through the file lying in front of him and confirmed her words. Indeed she was calling someone named Nayab but something about her explanation was unsettling. He had been trying her phone number for the past hour but each time the line went busy and that had him ask his assistant to retrieve her wife’s call history.

He was surprised to find her incessant calls to her cousin Nayab specifically during night hours. The explanation she gave to him was satisfactory and answered his queries but unsettling. He could sense something fishy.

But given how nervous she always became around him, he attributed the way she explained to him, to her nervousness. She was being repetitive and over-explaining things which was one of the signs when a person was lying to you. He didn’t want to press her further so he let the matter go for now.
