Chapter 86. Peculiar

KAMIL

"Did you not get out of bed? What of breakfast, did you eat?" Kamil announces his presence like this, twisting this and that way as he takes off his shoes at the entrance.

"What about lunch? It's past the time," a quick glance at the wall clock and he amends his statement. "A bit past the time."

Thirty minutes past twelve in the afternoon is Kamil's version of past lunch time. Precious wants to guffaw and say that by this time, he is just getting ready to not eat. But according to Kamil, that isn't a flex and he doesn't say that.

Instead, he mutes the TV, crawls to the end of the bed and cranes his neck at Kamil doing what he does best: putter. He hasn't eaten lunch and by his silence, Kamil knows this too.

Kamil is rotating his hand and rummaging through the fridge for what he calls 'a light lunch before the Hungry wolf size' that ends up making Precious look like a kwashiorkor.
