"So what story do you want me to read to you?" I placed two books in front of Lilly who was peering at me with her huge black eyes.

Before bringing her over here, I got books that I'd be reading her to sleep and some other helpful toys. I didn't want my precious daughter to lack anything, as long as I could provide it.

"Tell me, daughter," I urged her gently.

Her little fingers closed around a big colorful book and I chuckled. Kids would always be kids. If only she knew that the other one besides the one she chose was more interesting, she'd have gone for it.

"I...I yike this one." She babbled, flashing her little set of white teeth at me.

She was so adorable and charming. I don't think I could ever be mad at her one bit.

"We'll go with this then," I said and began to read a story about Jack and the Beanstalk. I read to her slowly and watched her eyelids meet each other, her face turning to the side as she slept off.
