Chapter 39. Reconcile
Maverick POV
I was both shocked and terrified. I was shaking, and my emotions flipped my stomach to the point I wanted to throw up. The pain was horrendous. I ran towards the nearest bathroom, emptying my stomach into the toilet bowl.
“Maverick?” He followed me.
“I’m fine. Give me a second.” I got up and washed my mouth thoroughly.
When I went to him, I was shocked to see that he was calm. I saw nothing but the worries deep in his eyes.
“Are you okay?”
I nodded and found myself lunging at him, hugging him tight. He needed that, and I needed it, and I instantly felt him wrapping his arms around me, hugging me back.
“I’m so sorry, Lake. This happened because of me.”
He chuckled, but I felt the heaviness in his chest. “I was about to say the same thing.”
I pulled away and studied him. “He’s that hardass, huh?”
“Pretty much, blaming everyone but himself.” He looked back at me, and then I read something.
