"I have something to do nearby" I nodded out with my hand, without showing all the anxiety that was killing me. "So, I thought making a visit would be nice.

That was half a truth. I was just waiting for the rain to give a truce outside, and I ended up coincidentally bumping into the Hungry Bear diner during my hurry to find refuge. I didn't realize, until that moment, that the cafeteria where I worked for five years was only two blocks below the club where I was looking for a free pass for another night of adaptations.

The storm did not match the mild temperatures of April, and took me by surprise as I left my apartment with slow and calculated steps. If that wasn't an indication that I shouldn't leave the house, what happened next definitely indicated the propitious moment. I crossed the street without looking at the floor, and I didn't realize that the heel of my shoe stuck in one of the deformities of the sidewalk. Legs and arms shook when I stood on the ground, with
