Chapter 23. The Inner Circle

Jake thought Alpha Wayne would be back already, so he went into his quarters to fetch him with urgent news. Since Wayne wasn’t back yet, Jake turned to head back out. However, he stopped when he heard the elevator coming up.

The elevator doors opened, and his eyes widened slightly at the sight of his friend and Alpha holding Olive affectionately. Both of them looked a bit disheveled, their hair tousled from the wind.

“Alpha,” Jake acknowledged, bowing his head. They stopped walking.

“Beta, what is it?” Alpha Knight asked, his face turning stern. He wasn’t expecting anyone in his quarters at the moment.

“I… well, the Inner Circle needs to discuss something with you,” Jake answered, his gaze shifting from Olive to Wayne.

“I thought I made it clear that I wanted this week to be completely free, Jake.”
