Chapter 69. Family
Five years later…
“Damien! I told you to get down from there!” Sarah quickly dropped the dusting rag and lunged just in time, catching her son just as he was about to fall. She swept him up with a sigh, holding him against her shoulder. The boy wiggled, kicking his little legs with a sharp, defeated cry.
“But mommm…” His little voice drawled, his body reluctantly going lax as he allowed her to set him down at the edge of the bed. “I was about to reach the top!”
She grabbed the toy train sitting on the pillow and smiled as she made tooting sounds with her lips, plopping it down on his lap. Her hand then found his hair, ruffling the soft black curls. “It’s dangerous. I’ve told you many times not to climb the furniture, haven’t I?”
He pouted, his small hazel orbs looking exactly like another rebellious werewolf she knew. Speaking of him, he was supposed to be back from his meeting already. He doesn’t usually run late.
