“I have just one question, though,” Angela said. She, Derren, and Valerie had already stepped into the cottage and were now sitting on stools provided to them by Daniella.

“A question?” Daniella asked.

“Yeah, why did you create the darkness that hides your cottage from the outside world? And what sort of magic did you use?” Angela asked.

“Oh, I didn't create the darkness; it was a result of the dark energy that possessed me after the death of Darwin. The darkness strips away all good from whoever steps into it and slowly drains or rewrites your memories. You guys probably weren't affected because your magic was stronger than it,” Daniella explained.

“Yeah, I quickly figured out that something was wrong with the memory the darkness was showing us. It felt so real; it felt like that woman was really my mother, and all of that really happened,” Marie said softly, staring at the ground.
