Cassie’s POV

Earlier in the morning, I had to wake up my son and prepare since we would be off on a flight for a couple of hours.

"Son, behave on our flight, okay? Mommy needs to work; I am sorry if you have to go with me. I know it is bothersome, and you will get tired because of a long flight," I said to my son.

He mumbled, "It's okay, Mom! As long as I am with you. I promise you, Dad, that I will protect you no matter what. I love you, Mom!" My son is the sweetest.

"You promise to your dad?" Really?" I asked him with a smile on my face.

He nodded and hugged me, giving me a peck of a kiss on my cheek. "Yes! I always dream about him."

My happy smile turns into a sadder one. I am so jealous that I wish Kaiden could visit me in my dream. Maybe it is not as lonely at first, and maybe it is not as painful as a fresh wound from the past. But I still miss so much that it breaks me.
