"They want to save their wolf form in case we'd been ambushed or perhaps attacked in the middle of nowhere. We can't let our energy go to waste,"

I nodded in retaliation. "Then is there a number or a limit to which you can shift?"

He shook his head. "No," he explained, "as long as you aren't physically and mentally drained, you can shift whenever you want."

I felt a flicker of understanding. My learning is gradual but progressive. As we followed the two guards and Alpha Knight who headed the troop, I kind of felt a sense of familiarity with
