I wasn't sure if Alpha's intense gaze could be construed as a form of threat. What I did know was that whether it was a good sign or a bad sign, Alpha's overbearing presence was dampening the atmosphere. As I engaged in a silent staring contest with Alpha Knight, Eric on my left couldn't hide the amusement in his expression. The last thing I wanted was to create a scene, and Alpha wasn't helping me avoid that. Other onlookers began to turn around as they noticed our little gathering, contrary to my hopes that they would remain oblivious. It appeared that Eric's influence ran deep within the core of their culture, with loyalty and devotion to their kingdom's image greatly impressing me. If only that level of respect existed in the West... Maybe I would be treated differently... Perhaps I would receive at least some respect, given that I was Alpha's mate.
