Chapter 121

He was right to assume he had to run away before he could be safe. Her father is not one to give up so easily. She shows him the post she is uploading on Instagram. He does not give out any expression on his blank face.

"Where did I make a mistake with you?" Her father says while he is sipping wine. She stops chewing halfway, she wonders what he might be talking about. "What?" She asks, trying to gauge his energy.

 "What were you doing at a hospital this afternoon?" Her father asks and the blood in her veins go cold. Her face goes pale. Her father chuckles but it sounds hollow, empty. 

"I keep waiting for you to see my actions as right and well thought out but you keep trying to thwart them all because of some stupid moral obligation you have." There is no hint of a smile on his face and Emily can see a bit of the beast Lewis had spoken about. She begins to feel heat around the collar of her dress. The meal is no longer going down her throat easily.
