Chapter 27

"Say hi Aunty Amber." The baby only babbles in return. Linda places her on the baby seat and secures the seat. Then puts her meal on a small plate in front of her. She tries to feed her but Mimi wrestles her with the spoon and Linda leaves her with it.

"She is a tough baby, this one," Linda says with a soft smile.

"Who knows where she gets it from?" Manuel asks with a sarcasm laced in his tone. Laughter escapes Amber's mouth and she almost chokes.

"Oh, stop with your jokes, Manuel. Here, have some water." Linda hands her a cup of water and steps away from her seat to tap her back gently. Amber sputters some water and begins to mutter.

"I am fine. I'm alright." It does not look entirely convincing at first but later she calms down and Linda is convinced. After breakfast, Manuel taps her shoulder.

"Come on, let's step outside. We will be back soon, Linda."
