Chapter 30

"Alright. I was expecting a more exciting reunion with a lot of hugs and kisses and I miss yous thrown around like confetti. But, this… this is alright too. This is probably some tough love type of thing going on between you two. I will see y'all later. Jacob, would you like to stay behind for dinner after your get-together? My sister makes a mean casserole. More time to spend with your sister, don't you think?" Manuel invites Jacob to have dinner with them.

Jacob thinks about this, he knows if he agrees to stay for dinner, he has to keep up with this script Amber is playing till the end of the day. He stares at Amber but she refuses to maintain eye contact with him. 

"I will see if I can join you for dinner, Manuel. Let's go, Amber." He almost drags Amber through the door. 

They step outside and when they are well past the house, they begin to talk.

"Who are you?" Jacob asks with a stern tone. Amber tries to gather her words.

"Did Richard send you?
