Chapter 8. Who Is She?

Lily’s heart thundered in her chest as they made their way back to the palace of the Alpha. Her mind swirled with a maelstrom of emotions, insecurity gnawing at her as she observed the interaction between Caleb and Athena. She couldn’t shake the feeling that there was a history between them that she didn’t fully understand.

Upon their return, the Alpha greeted them with open arms, gratitude shining in his eyes as he commended Caleb and his pack for their success in ridding the town of the vampire threat. The Alpha, a burly man with a warm demeanor, insisted on throwing a grand banquet in their honor, celebrating their victory.

As preparations for the banquet began, Lily noticed that Caleb had brought Athena along with them, much to her surprise. She couldn’t fathom why he would allow a vampire, even one with a past connection to him, to be a part of their celebration. Nevertheless, Lily held her tongue, trusting Caleb’s judgment, but the unease in her heart persisted.
