Chapter 20. Invitations

I had to admit that I was a little bit worried after Samantha’s threat to tell Atticus what had happened. I had met a fair share of girls like her and knew how they could twist an event into something else.

I had no idea how important she was to my husband, so I couldn’t be confident that he would believe me over her. She had claimed that they were meant to be married. If what she said was true, that meant he probably loved her and trusted her to a large extent.

It made me wonder why he would marry me for my company shares, which he could do without if he already had someone he loved and was going to marry. Samantha’s father must be someone of important status as well, since she was bragging so much about her status.

I had only threatened her because I wanted her to leave the house, but I never actually expected her to leave. I was surprised when she hurried off the property like her tail was on fire, and I must admit, it had been so hilarious.
