Chapter 83. Old Scars

Zayne’s POV

My eyes found him. He was sitting on a white chair, clad in a hospital gown. It looked very odd on him and his tattoos. One arm was bandaged and strapped against his chest.

His hair was slightly disheveled, face pale. He looked sick.

Dr Vance was with him, adjusting an IV tube. He was the first to notice me.

“Zayne,” He called, his voice mild but surprised.

Jeremy’s head jerked up at the sound of my name. Our eyes met and the air around us changed.

Dr Vance cleared his throat as if realizing the tension around us. Everyone knew how it was like with Jeremy and I.

“I’ll give you both a moment.” He said, excusing us.

When he shut the door behind him, I half-expected Jeremy to lash out at me, maybe tell me to get out, but he said nothing.

He was just looking, then looked away. I broke the silence, leaning against the wall, my arms wrapped around me. “How’s the arm?”
