Chapter 88. Zayne’s Demons
Teyana’s POV
The harsh scrape of Zayne’s chair cut him off.
He stood abruptly, anger flashing in his eyes.
“I thought I could make it through this dinner,” he said tightly. “But I should’ve known I couldn’t.”
“Zayne…” Mariah began, but he was already walking away, his shoulders stiff with fury.
My chest tightened. I’d never seen him like this before.
I turned to Mariah and Connor, my pulse thudding in my ears.
“I’m sorry, but I have to go after him.”
I didn’t wait for permission before standing and hurrying after him.
“Zayne!”
The night air slapped softly against my face as I ran down the short steps after him.
“Zayne!” I called, breathlessly, stepping past the guards.
He didn’t stop. He was pacing beside his bike now, one hand gripping his hair, the other clenched at his side. The sharp sound of his boots scraping against the gravel echoed through the garden.
