Alexander had been gone for his business trip for about three days and we hadn’t spoken since then. My parents also hadn’t spoken to me because they claimed they were waiting for Alexander to come back from his trip before they returned to the house again. 

Alexander’s sister, Caroline, had texted me earlier to inform me that their parents were coming to New York. Their parents lived in California and only visited New York occasionally. 

Whenever they were in New York, they stayed in Alexander’s house. So that meant I was going to be with them alone because I had no idea when Alexander was going to return.
