“Stay inside the car,” I instructed Ethan before walking towards Alexander and the kids. Lunch was already messy and Alexander's showing up made it worse.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, my brows crippled in disbelief. “I specifically asked you to wait until tomorrow but you still showed up anyway.”

Alexander’s tone turned defensive. “You lied about who you were going to lunch with.”
