Chapter 116. Mourning

Eryn’s POV

There is no fanfare when we pull into the Warrior Pack. We are not greeted like returning heroes. The streets are empty, and the shutters are drawn. The pack looks destitute. I wonder how many of the houses are actually empty and how many are just hiding from their Alpha. Either way, it doesn’t make me feel cheerful to be home.

Atticus squeezes my hand when we pull up to the pack house. It looks the same, save one difference. A tall wooden pole is in the middle of the front yard with chains and shackles. It is an echo of what happened here. It cannot go fast enough.

I hop out of the car before it comes to a complete stop. Atticus slams on the brakes, shouting for me to return, but I have a mission. I am the Luna of this pack, and I will make sure everyone feels safe.

“Eryn,” Atticus shouts. “You should be resting.”

“I will in a minute,” I call back over my shoulder.
