“Yes, I read that marked wolves have companions. It could be anything or anyone,”

“And I get a cat? What can it do?” I giggle. Nicholas has a far away look in his eyes and then glances up suddenly. I follow his gaze to Shai, who is lying comfortably on a large window sill, her eyes barely open.

“Shai!” I call. The feline lazily perks up her head and stretches elegantly before jumping and landing in my arms.

“How was your day, Shai?”

She only purrs and rubs her neck against my chest. Nicholas raises his hand to touch her, but she hisses, glaring at him.

“Shai doesn’t like me very much,” he scowls.

“Well, unlike Shai, I do like you very much, Alpha,” I purr, batting my eyelashes at him. A low, sexy growl grumbles from his throat, and he grabs my waist unexpectedly, pulling me closer to his chest and kissing me deeply.
