Jamila’s POV
“I want to speak to N. Nicholas,” I tell them. I have to convince him to take me in, and if not, my family will take me back home. I only have a few hours until they march to where I am.
“Sorry, what is your name, dear?” Anaiah asks.
“Jamila,” I answer, “Jamila Clark,”
“Nice to meet you, Jamila. But right now, Nicholas is not in the right mental state to see you or even accept the bond,” she says softly. I know. He’s still grieving the loss of his first mate, and I’m not asking him to stop. I deserve a chance, too.
“I know, but I - he’s my mate, and I want to be close to him. I don’t want to mate with him immediately or do the marking stuff, but I hope he will consider me when he’s ready. And in the meantime, I want to stay with him if I can,” I explain as best as I can, cheeks burning.
