He moved to seize my arm, but Clara stopped him.
“Stop it, Samuel. They are dating; you can’t just poke your nose all the time.”
I heard Dad grumble but he didn’t say anything else.
“So, that means… Dad accepted us?” I stammered, my eyes brimming with tears. I didn’t know when I’d become such a crybaby, but I couldn’t help it. Everything felt like a dream.
“Yes, Evelyn. Your dad had no objections to us being together,” Jacob chuckled, brushing my hair away from my face. My gaze shifted to my dad, who gave me a small smile.
“I told you I’d give you everything you want,” Dad chuckled. “I know it’s weird that you ended up falling in love with this guy who happens to be my best friend, but just like I said, Evie, you’ll have everything you want. I will—” And then I ran into his arms, hugging him tightly.
