Chapter 84. Confessions

Liam

I still can't believe that just one stray piece of information led Cecilia to believe I was cheating on her. However, something else is quite clear after Cecilia's confession: she's insecure about us. And I need to convince her that there's no reason for that.

"I understand... I understand you were worried. But I swear, Cecilia, there's nothing between me and Ms. Braga besides therapy sessions," I say, expressing my sincerity.

All of Cecilia's attention is on me, just as I am attentive to every nuance of emotion that crosses her face. And I see relief wash over her at this moment, confirming how much that doubt hurt her.

"I'm so sorry, Liam... I shouldn't have doubted you," she murmurs, looking tormented.

I continue to stare at her for what feels like an eternity, trying to understand the reason for so much anguish in her gaze. My eyes search hers, trying to guess what's going on in her thoughts, and I come to a rather unsettling conclusion.
