The moment Ezra stepped into Orion’s office and left me standing alone in the hallway, I felt like I could finally breathe again. The tension melted only a bit as if encompassed in iron chains, but the pulse wouldn’t be put to rest, darting all over the place as creative pictures retraced every word exchanged by Orion and Ezra.
I knew Orion had always been possessive, always wanting to control, yet this night was different. His gaze pierced my very soul while unspoken accusations laid heavy with hostility in his glare. The scorn in his voice wasn’t about me working for Ezra; it meant more than that, something that felt like an affront against his very guts.
