Benjamin snorted. "You're being awfully cocky for someone who's about to be arrested," he said. "Even if you manage to escape from us, there's nothing stopping the police from taking you into custody."

"What makes you think that would happen?" she asked. "If I were you, I wouldn't bet on that happening."

"In fact," she continued, "you should be more worried about my father. He's going to come looking for me once he finds out what happened."

"Your father?" Charles asked.

Maya nodded. "He's the one who hired me to bring the crown jewels home. Now that I've stolen them, he'll be very angry."

Benjamin took a step closer to her. "Who is this guy? Where does he live?"

"He lives in Manhattan," she said. "His name is Jacob Forrester, and he owns a diamond company called The Crown Jewel Company."
