Chapter 78
Twenty years later, Maya's fourth child, Leon stood on top of a table and danced foolishly as he watched people who were staring from below him.
"Why is he standing on the table?" Maya wondered.
"Why not? There's no one else to stand on."
"Aren't you angry?"
"He'll fall down eventually."
The people watching from below were making a fuss over him, laughing and clapping their hands. He was so happy he looked like he might burst into tears.
"Ahaha, so he can get along with them even without us."
Maya hugged the boy's back. She wasn't as cheerful as her smile suggested, though. She was thinking, "At least this is something."
She could now live in the town with the kids. Leon had been so lonely all these years. She was relieved that he had someone to play with now, but she also couldn't help but think it was odd.
