Chapter 16. “Belladonna”

"You're late, ma'am. We were planning on attacking without you," Scarface said indignantly.

"Oh, really, Mason? Pray tell, why would you do that?"

"Time is of the essence and…"

"We'll get to that point later, old friend. I was gathering evidence and would love for all of you to look at it, but over a cup of coffee, of course."

The men grew paler, and I struggled to hold in my laughter. Poor Lana was toying with them, and based on her facial expressions, Scarface seemed to be the one she was angry with.

"And who's this little girl you brought with you? Your new lackey? Is she supposed to be here?"

Hohoho, he was bold, but now wasn't the time to confront him.

I didn't reply and followed Lana into the office.

  She took out warm water from a flask she had brought, coffee packs, and a tiny vial. The liquid in it seemed clear, but I suspected it was her sweat. She brewed it and turned it into seven cups. There were a total of six men i
