Since the light on the porch came on, I noticed the confused expression on his face, which he gave me briefly. He then turned back to the front with a shake of his head. "No, never. Have you?"

We arrived at the door and I stopped next to him. Instead of answering that question, another topic came to mind that I wanted to address before we got to the house. To be on the safe side, I just whispered, even though no one was around anyway. "If anyone else is awake, feel free to stay by my side. Your dad is really scary."

He unlocked the door and said, "Coming from a witch like you, people should be afraid of you. But I can assure you that he would never harm you." Although I spoke quietly, his voice was heard at a normal volume.

"Just don't leave me alone."
