Chapter 6

Lucy sat in one of the chairs facing the detective while Lim Taean remained by her side. The calm conversation outlined the points of her accusation and what had truly happened. The man by her side listened attentively, there to advise Lucy as best he could. But he failed to see the pain in the young woman, only someone deliberately refusing to see.

"Did you change your name?" the detective asked.

"I legally changed it," Lucy replied, her eyes meeting the detective's.

"And where are your other documents?"

"As you can see from the document, it was recently issued. I marked the dates to get my new documents; I can prove it with the receipts."

"Of course," the detective waited for her to retrieve her phone, his eyes still on how she looked. "Why did you change your name? Did you make any other changes?"
