Chapter 38. Not One or Two Mates
Deep within the fire ring of the Blood Redwood forests, Azrael sat in the middle of a clearing to cast a spell she had been trying to perform away from the prying eyes of other witches. The ritual she was executing was one of the most difficult and sacred spells in existence, one that required absolute solitude. If she allowed herself to be distracted for even a few seconds, the magic would backfire violently, posing a lethal threat to her life.

It was true. The sacred redwood forests were entirely banned for witch spellcraft because they were considered the woods of the gods of the species; thus, no creature was allowed to enter unless they possessed an undeniable, solid reason.
