‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’ That’s exactly what I wanted to shout at my own stupidity. After drowning for five minutes, I finally realized what he had been trying to tell me for the past half hour. The key was not fire, but water.
Though fire was my most developed element because I had grown comfortable with it—and because it was the first power that had made its appearance known to me when I first learned about my magic—water had always been the power that protected me since birth.
