“Are you ready?” Daniel asked me, and honestly, I didn’t know how to answer that question.

I didn’t even know in what context he was asking me. Was he asking me about cutting my birthday cake, or was he asking me about my impending battle with my grandfather that would be happening sooner or later? Honestly, I was ready for neither of them.
