“Are you allowed to drink tonight?” Jeff asked me, but his gaze flew to Rexon.

I laughed at his question. “Of course, I do! I would love to drink.” Then my gaze crossed to Rexon, who was just leaning forward on the couch.

“She can’t drink. Give her a root beer instead,” he said, and he slightly raised the glass he was holding.

“Come on, Rex, let her enjoy the night,” Skye replied.

“Why? Isn't she enjoying herself already?” He gave me a crudely insulting stare.

I wait for Jeff to say something, but he does not. Damn! Why were they so afraid of this man?! I wrapped my palms tightly over my thighs and held my breath for a while before thinking of what to say.
