Elizabeth’s POV

Lauren had already texted me the address, and surprisingly it wasn’t too far from the hotel I was staying at. I was still on the video call with Jessica, my phone balanced carefully on my tripod while I moved around the room. She had been talking non-stop since the call started, pacing around her own room like she was the one getting ready for something big instead of me.

“Have you called your parents?” Jessica asked suddenly, as if the thought just popped into her head.

“My mom called me this morning,” I replied, reaching for the small brush to finish painting my nails. “But it was all the same old apology, so I didn’t really care. I just acted like I had forgiven them so I could get as much information as I needed from them.”

Jessica rolled her eyes dramatically. “Typical.”
