I left before giving in to the desire to throw the tray in his face and say that I gave up the damn internship contract. Meredith's room was very small compared to the entire sector that was divided by stalls because of social distancing, and almost all people stopped focusing on their computers to look in my direction.
I should have had a very sour expression on my face, because none of them made any joke when I passed through the wide corridor that circled the sector. Small plants stood in vases on the sides of the corridor and I passed by a daisy, throwing it such a fulminant look that the flower itself seemed to lose some of its brightness.
For an hour, I had the impression that the day never came to an end. Meredith had already made me go out like crazy looking for some cleaning lady because she had dropped coffee on her clothes with the nervousness to find the boss and her son.
