Freya POV

Ryder stood at the entrance of the kitchen, his eyes dark and unreadable. He had changed into a simple black shirt and sweatpants, his hair still damp from the shower. His presence filled the entire room.

Nanny Grace went quiet immediately.

Ryder’s gaze was locked on me — intense, heavy, and full of something I couldn’t quite name.

My heart was pounding so hard I thought it might crack my ribs.

Did he hear us?

The question kept screaming in my head. I was prying into his past, digging up shit he clearly didn’t want anyone touching. He was already pissed at me this morning. What if he’s even angrier now?

My hands started trembling. I couldn’t stop them. Ryder stepped into the kitchen, his eyes locked straight on me. That cold, intense stare made my stomach drop. I instinctively lifted one hand to my throat, fingers brushing over the tender bruises he’d left there.

What the hell is he going to do now?
