Chapter 14
Marie’s POV
Luke: need you to grab the blue folder off dean's desk. NOW if you can. like actually now.
Luke: top drawer if it's not on the desk
Luke: please
That last please gets me off the couch. I don't text back. Just grab my keys and go.
Dean's door is at the end of the hall, half open. I haven’t actually been in his room since I arrived. I stand there a second before I make myself walk through it.
Being in here does something to me I wasn't ready for. Everything in this room is so obviously him. A concert ticket pinned to a corkboard, one we went to together. I didn't know he still had it. A photo half-buried under a stack of books: the two of us, maybe eleven, at somebody's birthday party.
I don't have time for this.
Desk first — nothing. Top drawer, then, digging past cables and receipts until I hit paper. Blue folder, right where Luke said.
