“What happened in there?”
I sat curled on the floor of my room, hugging my knees tightly as my thoughts spiraled into the chaos of earlier events. My mind kept looping the moment between Allen and me—his voice, his face, his anger.
“Everything was going so well with us,” I muttered, pressing my forehead to my knees. “And the moment I reminded Allen of our first time together, he just… snapped.” My heart clenched at the memory.
“Did I do something wrong?”
I felt the question roll around in my chest like a stone, heavy and guilt-ridden. The air in the room seemed to still as I ran the moment over again, trying to pinpoint what shifted. That look in Allen’s eyes—it wasn’t just irritation. It was pain, confusion, betrayal. A storm I didn’t expect.
