Chapter 17. On Our Wedding Day

“I’ve been asking myself how my husband managed to leave me on our wedding night. Now, I’ve finally met the woman who was behind all that!”

Kendra’s POV

“These were the exact words Grandpa told him,” she began yet another lie,

“Choose! You will never get to see this woman again if you don’t marry Kendra Summers. At least not in this lifetime! You know what I’m capable of, son. You don’t want to try. Obey me and I will let your woman stay in this country. Disobey and you’ll face my wrath.”

I don’t know why, but I could imagine Grandpa Jake saying these words. I knew he could be condescending at times, but could he have done this?

I shook the ridiculous thought in my head, “No! He’s not that kind of person.”

But why do I think this could all be true? Now I am confused. I shouldn’t have asked.

Instead of breaking her confided lies, here I am getting punctured every moment she utters something.
