Bennett’s POV

We were making their way out of the Silvercrest Pack’s territory, our hearts fixed on rescuing Emma from the Nightshade Pack. As we approached the border, we encountered the guard captain and the young boy Emma had saved.

“Where are you all going?” the captain asked, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.

We exchanged uneasy glances. We hadn’t intended to be stopped, and we certainly didn’t want to reveal our mission.

“We’re just…out for a run,” I said hesitantly.

The captain raised an eyebrow. “At night? Without telling anyone? I don’t think so.”

Hunter stepped forward, his eyes locked on the captain. “We’re going to get Emma,” he said finally, his voice low and determined.

The captain’s expression changed, a mixture of surprise and understanding crossing his face. “You’re going to the Nightshade Pack,” he stated.
