After Dustin left, there was an awkward silence between us four; no one wanted to break the silence as we remained standing.

"Is she Dustin's sister? Why are they shouting?" After a few moments, my mom asked, whispering in my ear.

Maggie's gaze turned to my mom's, and I could still feel the fury in her eyes as she looked at her. I was expecting her to insult my mom, and if she did, I would make sure she left here with a broken leg.

By instinct, I moved forward so my mom could remain at the back if Maggie decided to attack her, and I could protect her from my mean sister.

It was a good thing she kept her cool in front of my mom; good for her, or else I would have really beaten her up, and even if Jessica had helped her, my neighbors would not let me down.
