Lucy's POV

“No!” Carter retorted with a firm voice. “You're the one who needs rest!” Laughter almost burst forth from my lips as I could tell what Carter meant here. I didn't laugh, I had to compose myself so as not to make Carter regret fighting for me.

Seeing that Carter was only mocking her and didn't really mean what he said, she turned and walked away not saying a word. She directed her burning gaze on me before leaving.

“Be careful of her. I'm not asking you to live in fear.”

“Will you end up marrying such a vile lady?” I asked.
